Untamed Discipleship

Have we domesticated Jesus in the name of personal comfort and convenience?  Have we reduced the Christian life to something as innocuous as just being nice?  Is our faith too tame?  When we read the Gospel of Mark, we encounter a Jesus who is not "meek and mild" but on the loose - silencing demons, calming storms, touching lepers, healing the sick, going toe-to-toe with religious and political leaders, preaching wildly and passionately about God's kingdom, which is exploding into the present.  Jesus is not a tame Messiah.  And he calls us to follow him as untamed disciples - people who dare to join God's kingdom movement with reckless abandon.

During this sermon series on the Gospel of Mark, we will try to keep up with Mark's fast-pace storytelling as he takes us on a journey that bristles with urgency and is pregnant with the possibility of transformation at every turn.  It is a journey with an untamed Savior who wants to change us; and then, through us, change the whole world!
