TheCommon.org is an online tool that helps meet needs and connects people to serving opportunities.  It does this by matching specific projects with user profiles.  Each registered user creates a profile for serving based on his or her skill set, selecting from a list of categories (Yard Work, Transportation, Meal Preparation, Home Repair, etc.).  Users can also list needs ("I need a ride to work because my car broke down," "I need electrical work done") which is categorized by the type of service needed.  TheCommon.org notifies a user when there is a new need within his or her category, giving the option to get involved.
